So a pulsating sensation on the back of your head can be caused by an assortment of different things. Most of the times it’s just your muscles spazzing out after spending too much time on your electronics. I once had a patient come in claiming that his head would have a pulsating sensation too, but he also claimed to have horrible headaches and nausea. I prescribed him some lemon essential oils and sent him on his way. The next day, he came back the next day with small bumps on the side of his head. He also said that the pain and nausea continued to bother him even after the lemon oils. This time I prescribed him lavender oils in case it was a symptom of vaccine injuries. The next week came by and a family member wheeled him into my office, this time an enormous lump had taken over his head, slowly pulsating. As I started examining him I could have swore I heard strange noises coming from within. I asked my Facebook mom research group to see if they had any knowledge on the subject of pulsating vaccine injuries, but they were all as stumped as I was. I finally decided to take matters into my own hands and pop the dang thing myself. I grabbed my scalpel and prepared for the worst. Turns out, he was actually suffering from a brain tumor and when I stabbed it, a bunch of blood and cysts came out, and I also maybe probably ended his life. Sometimes I still see those empty cold eyes of his looking at me as if to blame me for ending his short miserable existence. No amount of guilt or shame could cover up the fact that I had blood on my hands. I was a murderer. Did I lose what little humanity I had left? Maybe. I ask myself this every single day. Whenever I look in the mirror I see a broken husk of a man looking back with an empty look in his eyes. It was hard to accept the fact that I can’t save everyone. He was a prime example of the imperfections of humanity and the fragility of the human mind. I thought being a doctor was my calling, but it’s more like a sick twisted gamble. The joy and rush of saving a life is just one side of this sick twisted game that the gods play on our weak spirits, reminding us of our short span on this cruel world. Anyways, hope this helps!

If I am not mistaken, the location you are referring to is the area of the Superficial Temporal Artery as it runs up and along the side of your head.

It is common to be able to press your fingers there and feel your artery pulsating/throbbing. I can feel mine too at exactly the location that you referred to in your description.

If you can feel the throbbing sensation, without actually touching that part of your head, it could be due to anxiety or stress.

You can go to see a physician if you develop pain along/at the side of your head or if you start developing severe headaches or even jaw pain.

But if your issue is painless, maybe you could try relaxation exercises or stress relievers such as jogging, or martial arts or joining a gym. Also, you should keep your head (including your ears!) well covered while riding through cold wind, esp if you are riding against the wind direction.

See if lifestyle changes make your situation better and try not to worry about the pulsing sensation.

If it doesn’t help you, then you can see your physician or a neurologist for your issue and they can order some tests. Sometimes, it….omg i just checked the date of the question 2013 :S

lol well i already wrote all of this maybe it could help others…

sometimes our anxiety doesn’t go away until we have gone to the doctor and got a bunch of tests done to remove our anxiety.

What does Google know about me?

You may know that Google is tracking you, but most people don’t realize the extent of it. Luckily, there are simple steps you can take to dramatically reduce Google’s tracking. But first, what exactly are they tracking? Unlike searching on DuckDuckGo, when you search on Google, they keep y

This doesn’t sound like it’s cause for concern, most likely you’re busy adapting to life in a new environment, doing new things, meeting new people, maybe enjoying your freedom away from your parents but at the same time having to shoulder more responsibilities, and since you’re so busy living life not having enough waking time to enjoy/do it all, so lack of sleep too. This can cause the muscles running from your forehead to your neck to tense up, and this you can feel. If you feel the need of sleep, do go to bed earlier for a few days during week days. The throbbing sensation you feel is just your heart beat, you’re more aware of it than before because you concentrate on all kind of sensations flooding you. If you like check your pulse at the same time, you’ll see.

So, no sweat, take you time to adapt, and if needed go to bed earlier to be rested the nest morning and feel better.

PS: please stop driving yourself crazy by concentratoing such a diverse collection of vague, aspecific, harmless “symptoms”.

I’m no doctor but I think you can bet it is related to your heart pumping blood through that area. I would also suspect that your blood pressure might be up. Instead of asking us, you might seriously consider going to see a real doctor even if it’s just one of those Docs in a Box that reside in a closet in many drug stores these days. They are a LOT cheaper than an emergency room and you get ‘seen’ right away. If there’s a significant problem he or she will tell you to get to a clinic or hospital. In Mexico, I fell out of bed and split my scalp. I went to one of these guys and he stitched me up and told me to take a cab to a hospital where they did x-rays and scans. Bring your medical cards or such when you go.

I think it sounds like you are doing some new exercises, like bike riding. And you are sitting in a new position with your laptop.

Bike riding requires you to lift your head to look forward and you say the laptop sometimes makes you hunch over. Your muscles may be protesting a little at their new tasks.

When you feel the pulsing sensation, stop what you are doing, stand up and stretch.

Then try these quick exercises to help relax your neck muscles. I think it will help.

Most likely you are having a form of migraine. You can use an ice pack for 10 minutes each hour on your head until the sensation stops. If you experience tingling in your hands, sensitivity to light, floaters/black spots, nausea or vomiting you may want to see a doctor for a diagnosis so they can prescribe a Rx when you experience this symptom again. If your speech becomes slurred, your face droops, you lose bladder control, or you can’t lift your arms have someone call 911. You may be experiencing a stroke or aneurysm.

If you handle TNT and touch your head that will put you out of action. I get the headache you are talking about as I got crook and I have pore blood flow and I get that. Make an appointment with your GP

It’s caused by an artery that runs along your head. If you place your finger on it you can actually take your pulse. There’s nothing to worry about with it.

My guess is that it’s a response to ongoing stress.
